Ramar Electronics, Inc.

In 1980 Mary Bliss purchased the Radio Shack that was located downtown in Ontario Oregon. The Oregon Street location had also housed a TV repair shop and a local still remembers buying boxes of tubes from Mary that he later used to repair guitar amplifiers. In 1993 the business was incorporated under the name Ramar Electronics, Inc. and was later moved across the street to its current location.

After being incorporated for nearly ten years, much of her family moving away and opening another store with her Daughter in California, Bliss decided to sell her “baby” and try to do some traveling.  The store was listed with a broker and in June of 2003 Jim and Treese Griffith purchased all outstanding stock to Ramar Electronics, Inc.

Having seen diversification as the key to success in rural communities, Griffith started growth plans nearly immediately.  First to come was the addition of a JC Penney catalog desk inside the Radio Shack in the second half of 2003. 2004 brought the opening of a second Radio Shack dealer store in the Ontario Marketplace, across from where Home Depot is today. 2005’s venture was expansion to the Weiser market in a strategic alliance to offer expanded wireless options to our customers to our north through Verizon and Sprint. In 2006 Tech Zone was born of the necessity to be able to offer stellar service in multiple technology venues. In 2007 Tech Zone and a sister company Jaydeez were both expanded to a new location on South Oregon Street, just down the block from our original Radio Shack.

We are excited about living and working on the lower Treasure Valley and cannot wait to see what is around the corner!
